Please join the Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society for our February 25 general meeting featuring Dr. Megan E. Eckart of Lawrence Livermore National Lab, who will discuss the joint JAXA-NASA X-ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission. XRISM, which launched into low-Earth orbit in September 2023 from the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan, offers new observational capabilities of X-rays emitted by astrophysical objects.
The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. with a short “What’s Up?” presented by MDAS member Steve Jacobs, who will discuss one of his favorite viewing objects – double stars. Our meetings are held in the Lindsay Wildlife Experience Community Room, 1931 First Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA 94597
