About this Event
Astronaut Studio Session: A Surreal Cinematic Photo Experience
Step inside a fully immersive, cinematic studio environment where imagination takes the lead and reality fades away.
This special Astronaut Studio Session invites photographers, creatives, and visual storytellers into an otherworldly experience featuring two full astronaut characters inside Karen Jerzyk’s iconic Manchester studio. Designed for photographers of all skill levels, this session blends set design, character-driven storytelling, and hands-on shooting in a way that feels both playful and deeply cinematic.
If you’ve ever wanted to photograph something that looks like it came straight out of a movie still, album cover, or dream sequence — this is for you.
What Makes This Session Different
This is not a typical workshop or lecture. There is no classroom, no slideshow, and no rigid instruction. Instead, this experience is about exploration, instinct, and collaboration.
You’ll be photographing two astronauts simultaneously, allowing for:
- Narrative-driven compositions
- Emotional interactions between characters
- Scale, contrast, and visual tension
- Stillness vs motion, isolation vs connection
The astronauts are fully styled and lit to blend seamlessly into the studio’s surreal environments. You’ll have time to move freely, experiment with angles, shoot wide or tight, and develop your own visual language within the scene.
Karen and Jon will be present and actively engaged — adjusting poses, offering creative prompts, and helping shape moments organically, rather than staging stiff or repetitive shots.
The Studio Environment
Karen’s Manchester studio is known for its hand-built sets, textured surfaces, cinematic lighting, and retro-futuristic atmosphere. Every corner is designed to feel like a discovered world rather than a constructed backdrop.
Expect:
- Carefully layered lighting with cinematic color tones
- Physical textures, props, and environments that photograph beautifully in-camera
- Space to move, crouch, climb, and compose without crowding
- A creative energy that feels more like a film set than a classroom
Nothing is rushed. Nothing is over-directed. The goal is to create images that feel personal, emotional, and distinctly yours.

Astronaut Photo Walk: Downtown Manchester, NH
Turn the city into a movie set.
This Astronaut Photo Walk invites photographers and creatives to join Karen Jerzyk and Jon for a surreal, cinematic shooting experience through the streets of downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, featuring two full astronaut characters moving through real, everyday urban environments.
This is not a lecture or technical workshop. It’s a shoot-first, immersive experience focused on atmosphere, storytelling, and discovery.
If you’ve ever wanted to photograph something unexpected, emotional, and visually striking in a real-world setting — this walk is for you.
What to Expect
Two astronauts. Real city streets. No scripts.
We’ll explore downtown Manchester together, moving through sidewalks, alleys, storefronts, parking lots, stairwells, crosswalks, and overlooked corners of the city. As the astronauts interact naturally with their surroundings, moments will unfold organically — allowing you to capture images that feel cinematic, strange, and alive.
This experience emphasizes:
- Story-driven imagery
- Contrast between the extraordinary and the ordinary
- Scale, isolation, and human curiosity
- Motion, stillness, and spontaneous interaction
Karen and Jon will both be in astronaut suits and present throughout the walk, collaborating with photographers, responding to locations intuitively, and allowing scenes to develop rather than forcing poses.
Why a Photo Walk?
Photographing astronauts in a real urban environment creates powerful visual tension. Familiar places suddenly feel unfamiliar. Sidewalks become stages. Storefront reflections become portals.
Unlike a studio session, the city introduces unpredictability — weather, passersby, light shifts, reflections, and movement — all of which add authenticity and narrative depth to your images.
This walk is about seeing your city differently and using environment as a character in the story.
Who This Is For
This photo walk is designed for:
- Photographers (digital or film)
- Visual artists and content creators
- Cinematic and conceptual shooters
- Creatives feeling stuck or uninspired
- Anyone who learns best by doing
You don’t need advanced technical skills. You don’t need expensive gear. You just need curiosity and a willingness to explore.
All camera systems are welcome.
What You’ll Walk Away With
- A full card of unique, cinematic images
- Experience shooting dual characters in a public environment
- New ways of seeing and using urban space

The Vibe
This is a collaborative, relaxed, and encouraging environment. There’s no pressure to “get the shot” and no competition for angles. We move together, pause often, and give everyone space to create.
Expect curiosity from passersby, unexpected moments, and a sense of shared discovery.
Why Astronauts?
The astronaut represents curiosity, isolation, hope, exploration, and wonder — themes that resonate deeply in visual storytelling. Shooting them in grounded, human-made spaces creates powerful contrast and emotional tension that elevates imagery beyond novelty.
This session is about more than a costume. It’s about story, mood, and meaning.
If you’re craving something different — something cinematic, playful, and creatively nourishing — this studio session offers a rare chance to step into another world and make work that feels alive.
Come curious. Leave inspired.
Spaces are limited, and these sessions typically sell out.
