This is a face-to-face course for any healthcare professional responsible for the diagnosis, assessment & prescribing of asthma care in CYP

What you will learn on this course

  • Understanding of the multiple factors impacting asthma outcomes in children
  • Confidence with early and accurate diagnosis
  • Comprehensive skills in assessing, managing and supporting children with asthma/suspected asthma
  • Confidence with assessing and managing acute asthma
  • Leadership skills to support risk reduction in your area of practice


Why you should attend this course

NHS England (2021) and BTS/NICE/SIGN (2024) specify that healthcare professionals delivering asthma care must be appropriately trained to do so.


Course Pre-Requisites

This course is not a basic introduction to asthma in children, it builds on pre-existing awareness and understanding of the basics in asthma care. Participants are expected to complete 1 hour of pre-course learning activity.

If you are new to diagnosing or managing asthma in this age group or you feel you need introductory education before attending this course, please complete the Tier 2 course.
