Astari Nite is a darkwave alt rock band hailing from Miami. The band formed in 2007 with the release of their first self title ep. Astari Nite explores a wide range of sounds in the goth genre. Ranging from post punk to darkwave to industrial. For example, their song Sunday Queen, is an explosive post punk song with eerie guitar leads and upbeat drumming. While on the same album, The Girl Who Tried, displays Astari Nite’s take on darkwave suitable for the dance floor with its heavy bass drum and sinister sounding synths. Their latest single, Bowie in Daydream, is hard to place in one specific genre, with its goth tones mixed with pop and industrial. Mychael’s vocals is a stagnant low yet graceful monotone voice so gentle sounding unlike traditional post punk voices. The band went through many lineup changes over the years, with founding members vocalist Mychael Ghost and drummer Illia Tulloch. to date members are currently synths/bassist Danny Ae and guitarist Howard Melnick. Astari Nite has a great track record of shows. They’ve performed in festivals such Absolution fest, Dark Force Festival and wave gothik treffen. They’ve also toured in Europe supporting Clan Of Xymox and Solar Fake. Astari Nite is currently signed to Negative Gain Records.
Obsidian
Obsidian is a 4 piece goth rock/death rock band from SFL. The band is another local favorite among the SFL goth scene. Their shows are high in energy that comes the bands songs that range from a somber funeral anthem to a mosh friendly death rock piece. Missy Mortis (guitar/vocals) powerful vocals that range from a monotone to a powerful battle cry yell. Also their keyboardist, Kathy Diaz, takes part in getting the crowd involved by wielding her fierce red keytar (yes a keyboard guitar hybrid) which lets her step off stage and creep into the crowd, dancing with individuals. Obsidian can be compared to classics like Christian Death. In modern terms, they are comparable to Detoxi and Bat Nouveau. obsidian just released their newest album 19 Dead via BatCave Productions.
I AM YOU
I AM YOU is a 3 piece Darkwave project from Miami that debuted 10/9/23 at The Black Market Goth Homecoming event. I AM YOU is a sister project was formed by laboratory members Didi (bassist) and Ryan (synths) after their vocalist Alex fell critically ill. As a last minute decision, they formed I AM YOU with vocalist ___ and performed with songs that Ryan and Didi never released under laboratory. Flash forward today, I AM YOU is official and is advertise as the sister band of Laboratory. While Laboratory is on hiatus, I AM YOU brings a sound more darker and sinister yet keeps its familiar EBM and dance beats Laboratory fans adore. As of now, no official I AM YOU releases have come to light yet. Just like Laboratory in their early days, if you want to hear them, watch them live and become morphed into their dramatic soundscape of sound and theatrical performances.
