About this Event

Audience: Assistant Principals and Teacher Leaders within the CUNY/Urban Assembly school district.

Objectives:

This PLC is for all district APs regardless of whether you are new/early career (0-4y), or a seasoned veteran who may or may not be considering the principalship, and an accompanying Teacher Leader. This PLC’s focus is building/enhancing instructional leadership skills, mindsets, and actions towards leading schools as learning organzations through internally coherent systems of inquiry and action. Participants will strengthen these capacities by engaging in collaborative learning experiences grounded in the district theory of action and the intersection of the district’s priorities with their respective school’s priorities. The goal of this PLC is to support APs and Teacher Leaders in strengthening their performance as school-based leaders, through the collaborative design and management of a data-informed continuous school improvement inquiry processes.


Series Outcomes:

  1. Data Literacy - deepening our abilities to learn & plan from various types of quantitative and qualitative data sources.
  2. Understanding of, and ability to implement and lead, coherent systems of continuous school improvement.
  3. Growing and sustaining a district-wide professional learning community for guidance and support.


Series Guiding Questions:

  1. What does it mean to be a district literacy leader at my school? 
  2. What is my “why” for my special student populations–how do I lead to ensure continuous school improvement for my Quartile 1 Students? (ICF, 12)
  3. What does it look like to lead a school community that is centered on the literacy achievement and success of special student populations?
  4. How do we purposefully build upon, or improve, the internal coherence of our schools to ensure alignment of individual and collective expectations and actions in service of a shared literacy instruction vision & goals? 
  5. How do we align our continuous improvement efforts with both our respective school values and identity, and the district’s vision and values? 
  6. How do we grow and sustain a district-wide community of school leaders?
