About this Event
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Kid Volunteers will work together to assemble art kits for homeless teens. Many of these teens, ages 10+, are talented artists and/or use art as a positive outlet for their trauma. Stand Up For Kids will then distribute these art kit packages to the teens when they do their street outreach.
Additionally, kids + families will write "Thinking of You" kindness notes + make beaded bracelets to be handed out to the homeless teens to provide them with a source of hope and love so that they know they aren't forgotten about.
WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT:
This hands-on volunteer work will benefit Stand Up For Kids.
Stand Up For Kids works with chronically homeless teens, who can no longer live with their families. Some of these kids have been on their own since age 10! They help homeless and at-risk youth by providing them with a sense of safety and hope through street outreach.
KIND NOTES:
Our volunteer event will take place in the meeting room at Martha Cooper Public Library.
A takeaway snack will be provided for the Kid Volunteers at the completion of the project.
Stay tuned for additional details to help you prepare for the day!
