The Design Process: From Design
Drawing from his professional career in architecture, Kevin will guide us through his rigorous process:
Aquascaping styles: Nature style, Iwagumi, Diorama, find your style.
Concept Development: Finding inspiration and sketching your vision.
Composition: Understanding the design principles.
Hardscape Construction: Using principles to create depth, tension, and balance.
Planting & care: Selecting species that complement the scape and keeping them in award-winning condition.
About the Speaker: Kevin Chuang
Kevin is a practicing architect who translates the principles of scale, proportion, and perspective into the underwater world. Known online as the “Scaping Architect,” he has become an inspiration in the Australian hobby, known for his meticulous attention to detail.
Competitive Excellence: Kevin is a regular entrant in the IAPLC (International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest). Based in Japan, this is the most prestigious competition that attracts the worlds best. Attracting thousands of entries from over 80 countries.

IAPLC entrant - World ranking 165
Winner: 2023 Dymax Australia National Aquascaping Competition.
Media: Featured on ABC’s Gardening Australia, showcasing the bridge between traditional gardening and aquascaping.
