Ashworth-Remillard House Litter Cleanup

Time: 9:00am - 11:00am (Volunteer check-in starts at 8:45am)

Meeting Location: Ashworth-Remillard House, 755 Story Rd, San Jose, CA 95122

One of the oldest surving structures in San Jose, the Ashworth-Remillard House was originally built in 1860 for James Ashworth, who farmed the surrounding property. In 1891, the house and property were purchased by Peter Remillard, whose family operated a brickmaking business on the site.

Event Details:

• We will be picking up litter on the Ashworth-Remillard House property and along neighboring streets, with opportunities to help with light landscaping as well.
• All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Closed-toed shoes are mandatory, and we highly recommend wearing long-sleeve pants and shirts for protection.
• This is a rain or shine event, so please come prepared.
• Please bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.)
• Please bring your own snacks and a full reusable water bottle.
• All litter cleanup supplies will be provided on behalf of BeautifySJ.
• Community service hours are available for students. Please make sure to bring any necessary paperwork or ask about hours at check-in.
• Two waivers will need to be signed at the event - one from BeautifySJ and one from PAC*SJ.
• Free parking is available in the Walmart parking lot, along the wall closest to the Ashworth-Remillard House.
• There are two portable restrooms available on site.
• Optional Tour: If time and availability allow, a tour of the Ashworth-Remillard House and property, including the interior of the house, may take place following the litter cleanup.
