What is a Mysore-style class?
A “Mysore-style class” refers to the traditional way of learning and practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Students are taught individually, learning at their own natural pace to develop a sustainable lifelong practice. In a Mysore room, students of all levels and circumstances to practice together, with each person moving in harmony with their own breath and rhythm.
New students to Ashtanga Mysore should allow one hour for their practice. You do not need to know or memorize anything to join the classes. Over the five days, you will learn the foundations of the Ashtanga Primary Series and leave with a practice that you can do anywhere.
About Meghan:
Meghan has been a student of the Ashtanga tradition for over fifteen years, as she had the good fortune of growing up within the yoga tradition. Her mom, Peg, a long-time practitioner and first teacher, allowed Meghan to come on and off the mat as often as she wanted from a young age. With a passion for integrating classical yoga within a contemporary context, Meghan has deepened her understanding of this tradition over the years.
As a student of her mentor and teacher, Dena Kingsberg, Meghan continues to cultivate a deeper appreciation and knowledge of classical Indian philosophy and a devotion to the profound, multi-faceted experience of Ashtanga yoga.
Meghan is currently studying Psychological Science at the University of Tasmania. When outside of the classroom or yoga shala, you can find Meghan, her husband, Mark, and their dog, Bowie, exploring this incredible island they call home.
