About this Event
Event Description:
HVAC for buildings is not HVAC for boats. Off-the-shelf components like standard refrigeration units and chillers have to be modified to allow operation at extreme temperatures and angles. Buildings don't tilt at 45 degrees when operating - but some of our fleet might!
The presentation will be a small collection of examples where innovation led Bronswerk to a global leadership position in our industry. Case studies will include the CUBE, a patented modular refrigeration system now adopted onboard upcoming nuclear submarines, the AOPS chilled water plant (closer to home), mobile radar cooling equipment and its extreme environmental constraints and possibly more!
Mark Campbell - Project Manager, Bronswerk Group
Mark Campbell is a Project Manager at Bronswerk Group responsible for overseeing the design of the HVAC systems for the upcoming Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships for Canada Coast Guard.
Having managed teams providing HVAC systems for major offshore and marine projects in Houston and Singapore for more than a decade, Mark returned to Halifax in 2020 to be a part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy programs.
Patricia Gillis, P.Eng. - Engineering Manager, Bronswerk Marine
Patricia Gillis graduated from Dalhousie University with a B. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 and has been in the HVAC industry since her final co-op work term in 2003, when she first started work with Alscott Air Systems Ltd.
After graduating, Patricia joined Alscott full-time as an HVAC project engineer on their offshore and marine projects, traveling to various parts of the world to work on system design, installation, and commissioning teams mainly for oil & gas clients, as well as designing custom equipment and ductwork for manufacture in Alscott’s Dartmouth fabrication shop. In 2016 Patricia returned home to NS full-time, taking on the role of Engineering Manager at Alscott, which has since become part of the Bronswerk Group.
Patricia is now the Engineering Manager of the Systems Team at Bronswerk, working mainly on marine HVAC system design, developing company engineering standards, and supporting the Bronswerk Equipment Team.
