Ashenspire from Glasgow redefine black metal. Their sound fuses avant-garde black metal with jazz, noise and punk ethos, paired with openly political lyrics addressing class struggle, colonialism and systemic violence. Their albums Speak Not of the Laudanum Quandary and Hostile Architecture have made them one of the most important radical voices in modern extreme metal. Live, Ashenspire are confrontational, chaotic and deeply emotional.
Machukha (Ukraine) deliver monolithic doom/sludge shaped by Eastern European folk traditions and the lived reality of grief and resistance. Slow, crushing riffs meet ritualistic atmosphere and raw emotion — music forged in hardship, not aesthetics.
