Ascolta: Hodie!

Let us help you get into the Christmas spirit this year! Ascolta is an eight-voice choral ensemble based in Dublin. We are a group of singers who share a passion for music and love singing together. We are delighted to be returning to Newman University Church for our 2025 Christmas Concert, Hodie, which will include sacred and secular Christmas hymns and carols that we all know and love!

This year’s programme explores four diverse settings of the common Christmas text, Hodie Christus Natus Est (Today, Christ is Born). This joyous text celebrates the birth of Jesus, and we consider how this inspired four composers spanning the 17th century all the way up to present day. We will perform these pieces alongside beloved festive tunes such as Winter Wonderland, Angels We Have Heard On High, Ding Dong Merrily On High, Stille Nacht, the Wexford Carol and more. Featuring composers such as John Rutter, Giovanni Gabrieli, Elaine Agnew, Eoin Conway, Michael McGlynn and Matthew Culloton, we’re sure to have something for everyone to enjoy.
