The City of Mandurah together with Asbestos Disease Society are hosting an information stall during National Asbestos Awareness Week. Learn how to protect yourself, your family, and your community from the hidden dangers of asbestos.- 1 in 3 homes built before 1990 contain asbestos – often in walls, roofs, eaves, and floors.
- Renovation, DIY or even small jobs like installing lights or security systems can release dangerous fibres.
- Asbestos exposure can cause serious diseases including lung cancer and mesothelioma.
- Around 4,000 Australians die each year from asbestos-related illness.
