Join us for a children's book panel focusing on the themes of place, belonging, and choice. Aracelis Girmay, creator of Kamau and ZuZu Find a Way, joins the talk, as well as The Weather Keeper author Nelly Buchet and illustrator Elizabeth Haidle. Moderating this conversation is Claudia Zoe Bedrick, the publisher, editor, and art director of .
This conversation will situate picture books and the stories we create for children within a larger conversation about belonging, nature, family, place, and acts of the imagination. What brings The Weather Keeper together with Aracelis's two books, What Do You Know? and Kamau & ZuZu are the themes of remembering and reimagining.

In this conversation, a poet and professor (Aracelis), and artist (Beth), a storyteller (Nelly) and a publisher (Claudia) will explore the implications of how a story gets told and the intimations and illuminations of "the real" that we access through the lens of imagination.

This conversation is perfect for illustrators, authors, poets, those who work in children's book publishing, and lovers of visual storytelling alike.
