As I See It: The Art of Wendy Beeson
Opening Reception: Friday, November 6, 2026 | 5–7 PM
St. Johns River Center | Palatka, Florida
From the hills of East Tennessee to the islands of the Caribbean and the banks of the St. Johns River, artist Wendy Beeson's life has been a colorful journey of creativity, exploration, and discovery.
Join us for As I See It, an exhibition celebrating Wendy's artwork and the unique perspective she has developed over a lifetime of painting, designing, traveling, and observing the world around her.
Originally from Pinhook, Tennessee, Wendy knew by the third grade that she wanted to be an artist. After attending the University of Tennessee, she pursued a career in commercial art and graphic design, including work as an art director for Watson's and Magnavox.
Wendy and her late husband of 47 years, John, shared a love of sailing and adventure, spending 14 years cruising the Caribbean. It was while sailing the St. Johns River that they discovered Palatka, the community Wendy has called home since 1997.
Since settling in Palatka, Wendy has been an active participant in the local arts community. She is a member of The Palatka Art League, past owner of Gem City Cottage, and member of GAP (Gathering Artists of Putnam.)
Working primarily in watercolor, as well as acrylic, pen and ink, and drawing, Wendy describes her artistic philosophy simply:
"I paint in realism as I see it."
Her work reflects a lifetime of experiences, a love of observation, and a personal appreciation for the beauty and character of the world around her.
Please join us Friday, November 6, from 5 to 7 PM at the St. Johns River Center in historic downtown Palatka for an evening celebrating Wendy's art, her remarkable journey, and her contributions to the local creative community.
