• John D. Phan, Assistant Professor, East Asian Languages & Cultures, Columbia University
• Bilahari Kausikan, Former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore
• Chien Wen Kung, Assistant Professor of History, National University of Singapore

This event will showcase a book launch by author Daryl Yeap, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Professor Lien-Hang Nguyen. The discussion will feature insights from Professor John Phan and Columbia University alumni, including Mr. Bilahari Kausikan (GSAS '80) and Professor Chien Wen Kung (GSAS '18), focusing on the increasing importance of Southeast Asia on the global stage. The panel will explore parallels between the region's current geopolitical standing and its historical role as a focal point of Cold War violence in the 20th century.
