Arus Balik: Kitchen Stories

Transformed into kitchen, the participants collectively prepare a meal and share stories. The main dish will be prepared from a recipe from the community of Kampung susun Kunir in Jakarta, Indonesia.

While the night unfolds we will reflect on the meaning of the kitchen, its importance in history and a way how the kitchen has been historically documented; while at the same time we will also approach the question of the subjectivity of history.

The night will be hosted in the context of Arus Balik exchanges by Nieuwe Instituut in collaboration with Paoletta Holst and el KANTOOR.
