"Design on Canvas" is a hands-on creative session, during which participants have the chance to turn everyday items into personal artistic expressions. The "Design on Canvas" workshop focuses on designing and painting eco-friendly tote bags using acrylic textile paints.
The workshop combines relaxation with mindful creativity, as young people explore how colors, symbols, and hand-drawn designs can reflect identity, values, and emotional states. No special artistic skills are required — only a willingness to express oneself freely.
Beyond the individual process, the activity also promotes sustainable thinking by encouraging the use of reusable materials and environmentally friendly tools.
This workshop is organised as part of the Art Well project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, aiming to support youth mental health through artistic self-expression and inclusive local activities.
Each participant will create a custom-designed tote bag, resulting in a series of unique, wearable artworks — artistic statements that are both personal and practical.
This workshop was designed based on insights from the local Focus Group Meetings held earlier in the project, where participants highlighted the need for tangible, take-home results and sustainable approaches in creative youth work. Painting on tote bags was proposed as a low-barrier yet engaging medium that bridges self-expression and ecological awareness.
Who can participate? The session was open to young people aged 16–30, with special attention to inclusion and accessibility. Participants worked individually, with opportunities for peer support and informal dialogue during the creative process.
