“Art and Restorative Justice
There is a growing consensus that art can be a powerful tool in restorative justice processes. This is, in part, due to the therapeutic nature of art — art, as an introspective and expressive endeavor, can encourage emotional processing and the kind of active and productive healing that restorative justice aims towards.”
THE MISSION OF THIS EVENT IS TO SUPPORT JUSTICE INVOLVED INDIVIDUALS ART TO PROMOTE DIALOGUE ABOUT WAYS TO PREVENT CRIME, REDUCE LEVELS OF INCARCERATION AND FIND EFFECTIVE, HUMANE WAYS TO IMPROVE THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. OUR GOAL IS TO EXHIBIT THEIR ARTWORK IN OUR COMMUNITY TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF CRITICAL ISSUES AND FLAWS IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND STIMULATE PUBLIC DIALOGUE TO CONTINUE TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE.
