This solo exhibition by Puerto Rican artist Jorge Ibanez, showcases his exploration of human experience and resilience. Ibanez's art delves into historical traumas and the cycle of destruction and renewal, urging viewers to contemplate the present's challenges and emphasizing artists' role as preservers of humanity's aspirations and fears. Based in Gainesville, Florida, Ibanez utilizes various mediums like pastel, watercolor, linocut, photography, and acrylic, drawing from his diverse career experiences as the Coordinator of Graphic Design Technology and Director of Information Technology at Santa Fe College, and co-founder of Emiliano's Cafe in Downtown Gainesville. He sees his art as a celebration of curiosity and wonder in a world often overshadowed by disillusionment, encouraging viewers to maintain their capacity for marveling at life's wonders.
