Artsy Talks II: Creative Networking Event
About this Event
Pull up a seat. This one's going to be real.
Artsy Talks is back on July 18th at Stargazer Bar, and this time we're sitting down with two creatives whose work and stories you need to hear. Conversations with creatives, for creatives. That's the whole vibe, and we mean it.
This is not a panel where people give polished answers. This is a real conversation about the process, the grind, the doubt, the breakthroughs, and everything in between. If you've ever wanted a seat at that table, this is your invitation.
Meet our guests:
Rafael Cabrera is a representational painter and photographer based right here in Austin, TX. Born in Cuba and self-taught from an early age, Rafael's work explores themes of deep, surrendered love and mysticism. His collections, including Tree of Life and Cosmic Birth, carry a spiritual weight that pulls you in. Since 2024 he has been formally studying at the Atelier Dojo in Austin, sharpening his craft alongside some of the best instructors in the field. His mission is simple and profound: share and serve the world through his creations.
Crystal Lynn is an oil painter based in the Austin area. Before pursuing painting full-time, she served five years in the United States Marine Corps as an Arabic linguist. She studied at the Gemini School of Visual Arts and Communication in Austin, where she trained under illustrator Roger Barcilon and other working artists before shifting her focus to fine art painting. She continues her training through workshops at Atelier Dojo.
Working across figurative painting and still life, her work is psychologically charged, exploring atmosphere, color, and the presence of form. Drawing from her immediate environment, she builds compositions through light, color, and spatial relationships, moving between observation and more expressive approaches while maintaining a focus on mood and cohesion. Her more expressive work is often characterized by a darker, atmospheric sensibility, exploring themes of femininity, identity, transcendence, and the interplay between beauty and terror. Across all subjects, she is interested in the emotional and psychological charge that painting can hold.
Come ready to listen, connect, and leave with something that sticks.
