About this Event

Arts For EveryBody: Opera Louisianne

Come join us for a magical evening filled with the enchanting melodies of Opera Louisianne! Opéra Louisiane's project will be a concert of new arias and duets based
on a longer term commissioning project of a Louisiana based opera
inspired by the lives of patients and medical professionals who lived and
worked at the Leprosy colony in Carville, LA. Now known as the National
Hansen's Disease Museum we will be partnering with the museum to
provide history, insight, and inspiration for the opera. The concert on July
27 will be a compilation of composer and librettist teams creations of five
to ten minutes of music created using the leprosy colony as inspiration. We
will offer a concert of this music and a discussion with the audience about
the lyrics and music, giving the audience an opportunity to respond to how
each piece made them feel.
