This project engages and supports the current art
and healing program Oschner hosts, run and developed by local artist
Aruna Moudgil, originally from South India. Baton Rouge resident since
1983, Aruna lost her husband to terminal Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2017.
Through this tragedy, Aruna used art to help alleviate her suffering, and
since the loss of her husband, she has organized classes and volunteers
every week to visit patients with uplifting mandala coloring and painting:
mandalas are “a vehicular to help patients and families express their
feelings and process emotions about their cancer journeys, a circle
celebrating continuing daily life” and a mindful activity to keep the mind
happily engaged during despondent circumstances.
