Two amazing productions of beloved shows (titles to be announced at the Season 74 reveal party on April 15) are the grand finale for our older students, while our Arts For All Too students (ages 6-8) will conclude with an original sharecase of all they’ve learned.

ACTING: Acting-focused students will work and play individually and in groups, where they will be immersed in the experience of heightened language, physical expression, and the engaging process of acting. We will work together to bring the page to life and explore the excitement of creating vivid characters through fully realized storytelling in a variety of theatrical circumstances. Students will work on creative physical expression, vocal exploration with text and music, ensemble acting, and a variety of fun techniques aimed at liberating the creative imagination and honing the theatrical mind.
MUSIC: Music-focused students will grow as complete singers in both solo and ensemble settings. They will learn how to work as part of an ensemble, develop their sense of expression, deepen their knowledge of music theory, and present solo work that emphasizes character, story development, and confident musical expression. Through varied exercises and rehearsal processes, students will explore and learn healthy tone production, dramatic expression, sight-singing, musicianship, vocal technique, and leadership skills.

DANCE: Dance-focused students will experience a supportive and inspiring environment to study a wide range of styles and expand their understanding of dance. Daily classes develop a functional understanding of the body and develop spatial and sensory awareness. Our students are encouraged to expand their creative potential through contemporary ballet, modern dance, and improvisation as they focus on improving form and technique. Performance opportunities develop confidence and a respect for ensembleship. Our staff’s emphasis on self-expression, collaboration, and self-development encourages both technical and artistic growth.
ART: Art-focused students will learn various paint techniques, improve drawing skills, increase awareness of spatial relations and scale, and explore color theory. They will learn basic design and set construction techniques and skills to transform a bare stage into dazzling, showstopping performance environments. With daily instruction and two fully produced shows, there is plenty of opportunity to work on art skills and techniques, putting them into real-world practice as they learn all aspects of technical theatre. These students will have opportunities to work with costuming, props, set construction, lighting, stage management, and audio design.

Students will explore acting, dance, music, and art through expertly guided and collaborative activities, culminating in a final sharecase which reflects our young artists’ hard work and emerging skills.
Students will explore the power of their voices and bodies to communicate ideas and convey emotions via beginning acting techniques, creative storytelling, vocal exploration with text and music, and self-expressive movement activities.
Creating the visible context for a performance is equally important in theatrical storytelling. The Arts For All Too immersive experience exposes young learners to various technical aspects of live theatre, from scenic painting techniques to lighting and props.
Under the guidance and with the encouragement of The Academy’s teaching artists, nothing is as exciting as the creativity, self-confidence, and artistic growth found in the living, breathing space of Ocala Civic Theatre.
