Arts and Health: Mix and Mingle

Join us for an evening of creative connections and community building. Open to artists, creatives, health professionals, and other innovators who believe in the power of the arts to engage communities and improve well-being. Presented by the Rhode Island Arts and Health Partnership.

PARKING: The Art Club has a parking lot at 184 Benefit Street which visitors can utilize. It is first come, first serve. There is a parking and accessibility map linked on the footer of The Art Club website homepage. Street parking is also available.

On View at the Art Club: On view in Maxwell Mays Gallery during the event, see elegant avian sculptures by Newport resident Jeffrey Fischer alongside watercolors by famed Newport portraitist William Heydt and oils by Little Compton landscape painter Johanna McKenzie. In the Mary Castelnovo Gallery, a mini-solo show of architect and artist John K. Grosvenor is on view, and downstairs in Dodge House Gallery a Retrospective highlights the lengthy career of artist Wendy Ingram including textiles, sculptures, and works of handmade paper.

Rhode Island Arts and Health Partnership: Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and Rhode Island Department of Health work collectively to advance the integration of the arts, creative therapies, and health and well-being by amplifying and elevating arts programs and collaborations that support healthy individuals and communities.

Providence Art Club: Founded in 1880 to promote art culture in the City of Providence and beyond, the Providence Art Club is one of the oldest arts organizations in the United States. The first club of its kind to be jointly established by women and men, the Club also counts the notable African American landscape painter Edward Mitchell Bannister among its founders. Its three galleries are always free and open to the public and its four historic properties form one of the most iconic streetscapes in Providence.
