About this Event

Angels Gate Cultural Center and the Marine Mammal Care Center are collaborating on monthly Science & Art Workshops! Free for all, kids and adults, all ages welcome.

On November 6th, ArtLab will take place in-person at the Marine Mammal Care Center, as well as Virtually on Zoom. COVID-19 safety protocols (mask wearing & contact tracing) will be enforced on-site.

Join the Marine Mammal Education Team and an Angels Gate Artist-Teacher to explore the Centers. The afternoon will begin with an introduction to Pinnipeds! Learn all about seals and sea lions at the Marine Mammal Care Center, followed by an Art Workshop led by an Angels Gate Artist-Teacher.

Draw a portrait of a seal or a sea lion, or, create a self-portrait as a seal or sea lion! Imagine if you were a seal or a sea lion – what would you look like? What would your personality be? Would you be wearing clothes? What about sunglasses or your favorite hat? Make sure we can tell if you are a seal or a sea lion!

Supplies will be provided to those who attend in person. Materials Needed at Home:

8.5 x 11” or 12 x 18” printer paper or watercolor paper

Watercolors + brush and cup of water, or oil pastels, or both!

Pencil + eraser

Photo of seal or sea lion

If you want to make a frame for your artwork: driftwood, glue gun, and a sheet of cardboard the size of your paper.

The event will begin promptly at 1pm. Please be sure to be at the Marine Mammal Care Center by that time.

Sign up today! Register on eventbrite, and you will receive the Zoom link prior to the event.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
