Photographer Eduardo Chacon discusses humanist photography, a movement born in France in the mid-20th century that emphasized everyday human experiences. Humanist photographers captured ordinary people with dignity to illuminate human struggles, aspirations, and pleasures. Though often conflated with street photography—a genre known to capture candid moments in public spaces—humanist photography is distinguished by its portrayal of human nature. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A with the photographer.
