About this Event
Kinusaiga (絹彩画) translates to "silk picture" in Japanese. Artists create mosaic-like images by tucking fabric scraps into carved grooves , no needle or thread required.
This isn't paint-by-numbers. Everyone gets to select one of 2-3 outline — a stem, a bloom, a leaf— but the fabric you choose is yours. Bold and graphic? Soft and muted? Black and white with one pop of color? If it speaks to your space, it belongs on your board.
You'll leave with a one-of-one, frameable 12x12 piece designed around your palette, not a sample someone else picked for you.
We've designed this so it's smooth, creative, and stress-free. Here's exactly what to expect:
STEP 1: GET COMFORTABLE
Arrive and select your seat. Get settled—this is your creative space for the next two hours.
STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR CANVAS
Head to the craft table and pick your pre-cut foam canvas. The design is already carved out and the adhesive is already applied—no prep work needed.
STEP 3: SELECT YOUR COLORS
Browse our fabric scrap collection and choose the colors that speak to you. There's no "right" palette—make it work for YOU. This is where your personal style comes in.
STEP 4: RETURN & CREATE
Back to your seat with your canvas, fabric, and all the tools you need. We'll do a quick walkthrough of the slit-and-tuck technique, then you're off.
STEP 5: TUCK & RELAX
This is the meditative part. You'll tuck your fabric into the carved slots, building your mosaic piece one color at a time. It's creative, mess-free, and honestly? It feels like painting without the mess.
THAT'S IT. You leave with a finished 12x12" piece of silk mosaic art.

We'll walk you through the tucking technique step-by-step. This is a relaxed, guided studio session . Come as you are, leave with something for your walls.
