❤️ The Idea
Hi, I'm Shay.
I'm the founder of ArtistBoost and the lead singer of Blurry Bunny.
For more than twenty years, I've lived the beautiful, messy, exhilarating life of an independent artist.
I've written songs in bedrooms, recorded albums, designed websites, booked tours, created merchandise, built fan communities, managed publicity, filmed music videos, packed vans, driven across the country, and stood on stages wondering how incredible artists could work so hard creating beauty... and still struggle to make a sustainable living.
I've been fortunate enough to experience some amazing moments along the way.
With my former bands, Moodroom and Love Darling, I've independently released multiple albums, toured the United States, licensed music to television, appeared on national broadcasts, crowdfunded a vinyl record through our fans, won awards, collaborated with Grammy-recognized producers, charted singles, and watched songs we created find their way into people's lives in ways I never could have imagined.
One of our songs, "Hazy," even became the theme song for the SHOWTIME show, The Real L Word, introducing our music to audiences around the world for three seasons.
Those experiences taught me something I'll never forget.
Independent artists are some of the most resourceful entrepreneurs you'll ever meet.
We're not just musicians.
We're storytellers.
Designers.
Marketers.
Community builders.
Business owners.
Tour managers.
Producers.
Content creators.
On and on.
Yet despite wearing all those hats, too many incredible artists still struggle to earn a sustainable living from the work they love.
Not because they lack talent. Not because people don't value art.
But because the systems connecting artists, audiences, venues, and communities haven't evolved as quickly as creativity itself.
I kept asking myself...
What if there was another way?
What if artists could build meaningful relationships directly with their audiences?
What if local businesses became creative champions?
What if homes, cafés, breweries, galleries, bookstores, and neighborhood spaces became thriving stages for local creativity?
What if fans didn't simply buy tickets...
but instead were the "boost" that allowed it to be staged and shared?
Answering this question became ArtistBoost.
ArtistBoost isn't just a showcase.
It's a creative community experiment.
A prototype.
A creative community spark.
It's an invitation to imagine a future where artists, hosts, venues, local businesses, and fans don't compete for attention...
They collaborate to create unforgettable experiences together.
Artists and hosts come together to curate an amazing experience, and fans are the spark to light it up!
This premiere showcase also marks another milestone in my own journey as an artist.
Tonight is the debut performance of my newest band, Blurry Bunny, and I couldn't imagine a more meaningful way to introduce this next chapter than by launching ArtistBoost alongside it.
While tonight features two incredible live experiences from JessieRetro and Blurry Bunny, ArtistBoost was always imagined as something much bigger.
Future showcases may feature musicians, visual artists, comedians, poets, dancers, photographers, chefs, wellness practitioners, makers, Vending Artists, immersive experiences, and whatever beautiful combinations each host chooses to curate.
No two ArtistBoost Showcases are meant to be the same.
Every showcase becomes its own living work of art.
Because when artists thrive...

We're honored that ArtistBoost LA • Showcase No. 001 is presented by House of Alchemy Hollywood.
This remarkable Hollywood home has lived many creative lives. It was once the residence of a young Marilyn Monroe, later became the primary filming location for Showtime's The Real L Word, and today serves as both a beloved homestay and an ever-evolving creative sanctuary in the heart of Hollywood.
For the past fifteen years, House of Alchemy has also been my home—a place where songs have been written, bands have rehearsed, collaborations have been born, and dreams have slowly taken shape.
One of those dreams was to one day host intimate concerts beneath the backyard orange tree, affectionately named Orangelina Jolie.
ArtistBoost Showcase No. 001 is the realization of that dream.
It's especially meaningful because this premiere showcase marks the first time I'm wearing all three ArtistBoost hats at once—as the Stage Partner, Host, and Featured Artist with my new band, Blurry Bunny.
Every ArtistBoost Stage has a story.
This is ours.
And we can't wait to welcome you beneath the orange tree as we begin writing the next chapter together.

✨ JessieRetro - Jessie is a channel, sound artist, and high-frequency facilitator dedicated to anchoring cosmic expansion into deeply grounded, somatic reality. Her path is woven from years of devotion, walking alongside medicine women and certified frequency practitioners. Rooted in her rich history as a channel and tarot reader, she acts as a bridge between the seen and unseen, translating ancient cosmic wisdom into real-time healing.
At the House of Alchemy, she invites you to shed the noise of the city, lay down your armor, and tune into a frequency designed specifically for your evolution. Come ready to receive exactly what your soul showed up for.
