Join artist Michael Zavros in conversation with DPAG curators Lauren Gutsell and Lucy Hammonds on the opening weekend of Meet the Zavros’s.Meet the Zavros’s invites audiences into the world of the artist and his family – or so it would seem. Across painting, photography, sculpture and moving image, the exhibition navigates some of the central tensions of his work – the intersections of art, identity, beauty, desire, and commodity; the authenticity of public life; and the space between artifice and reality.
Leading Australian artist Michael Zavros has exhibited widely within Australia and internationally, and most recently in 2023 was the subject of a major career survey at Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), accompanied by the monograph The Favourite.
