Exhibiting artist Markus Puskar will share both conceptual and technical details relating to his painting series, "The Loneliness of Infrastructure," on display at Bemis Library May to August 2026.
The Loneliness of Infrastructure
Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) and artist Markus Puskar present The Loneliness of Infrastructure at Bemis Library. The oil-painting series presented throughout this Littleton library explores isolation and atomization; themes which Puskar identifies as key social trends in 2026. With a rhythmic and unifying style, Puskar critically yet carefully constructs visions of wanton excess in the environments that we inhabit. In these swallowed worlds, infrastructure becomes physical manifestations of collective will to show the capacity for connection can be retained.

About the Artist
Markus Puskar is a self-taught artist painting and drawing in Denver. By day, he is a social worker and serves on the board of directors at Joy’s Kitchen, a food rescue organization. In 2023, he released an audio documentary series for KGNU Boulder/Denver exploring the ways that the food system has been transformed by commercialism, called Candy Jail. He has exhibited his work at Leon Gallery in Denver, and the Estonian House in New York City. He has painted murals throughout the Front Range of Colorado, including in Denver International Airport.
