About this Event
Jessica Pinsky's solo exhibition I Can't Remember Anything continues at HEDGE Gallery, featuring the artist's newest black and white textiles, created by layering photographic references and images of her children's drawings into the weaving process. Pinsky states about the work:
"Looking at photographs in an effort to demonstrate the loom’s powers, I discovered many gaps in my memory. Memory loss is a result of being a new mother, of overachievement and anxiety. And, so much is due to living in the time of the covid pandemic, when everything familiar was turned upside down.
There were exactly 15 blurry, unrecognizable photos on my camera roll from the first two years of my twins lives. I then scanned my children’s drawings and superimposed them with the blurry photos. Threads are individually pulled and draped to create distortion, texture and movement. Pulling each thread feels like grasping at details, literally pulling information to the surface in the effort to preserve and protect every moment of time."
This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! RSVP is not required for attendance but will give you a reminder before the event starts.
