Artist Talk + Screening: 'Creative Nostalgia' in Italian Artists’ Films

Developed in dialogue with Rebecca Moccia’s solo exhibition, Nostalgism, the screening programme presents a selection of film works by Italian artists Simona Andrioletti, Riccardo Giacconi and Giulio Squillacciotti. Supported by Careof, (Milan), and preserved within its archive, the works explore the theme of nostalgia — and feelings more broadly — as a structural phenomenon shaped and mobilised within the capitalist system, traversing media, technology, the economy, and politics.

The screening programme reflects on how nostalgia has become a powerful and often malleable force in contemporary society, shaping our collective imagination while influencing our experience of the present and our ability to envisage the future.

This will be followed by a short conversation in the Gallery with Rebecca Moccia and Programme Curator Michael Hill.

Event location Information: This event takes place in Studio 6 and is accessible by stairs and lift. The room will have low lighting and theatre style seating. The talk will take place on the ground floor in the Gallery where there will be sound, video and floor based work, and seating available on request. Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is an artists’ studio complex and contemporary art gallery in Dublin City Centre.
