Join AcA Visual Arts Director Jaik Faulk in conversation with exhibiting artist Michael Eble.Michael Eble is a visual artist born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his BFA in painting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and his MFA in painting and drawing from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. From 2002 to 2016, Michael served as Associate Professor of Studio Art and Curator of the Edward J. & Helen Jean Morrison Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris. He currently holds the position of Assistant Dean for the College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Michael’s work investigates themes of abstracted topography and modern architecture, inviting viewers to contemplate their relationship with both natural and built environments. His paintings and works on paper have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the country, with recent shows in Louisiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
He has received several grants and fellowships, including an Artspark Grant, Louisiana Project Grant, and an Advance Faculty Grant from UL Lafayette. During his time at the University of Minnesota, he was awarded multiple Imagine Fund Awards, Grant-in-Aid Awards, and a Residential Fellowship from the Institute for Advanced Study. His work has also been supported by the McKnight Foundation, Lake Region Arts Council, Vermont Studio Center, Science Museum of Minnesota, and the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center.
