We always love when our artists can visit in-person and connect with the community. Please join us to meet the amazing Marie Mellott as she discusses her dynamic pastel paintings. Her works are vibrant and bold and full of life, just like Marie. We'll be providing FREE hot chocolate, coffee and light treats, so stop by and mingle with the artist, hear about her process, her history as an artist and ask any questions you would like!
While here, shop our HOLIDAY MARKET for all of those last minute gifts! We have LOTS of stocking stuffers, purses, totes, tees, light catchers, ornaments, etc.
Here is her artist statement:
Marie Mellott is a Milwaukee artist working with soft pastel chalk to express her abstract compositions. She has been a professional artist since 1980 after graduating with a fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is interested in form, colors and shapes inspired by nature and poetry.
Marie has shown her art in several states and in Germany. She has had a dozen solo shows and is in at least thirty private collections. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Yeiser Art Center, Paducah, Kentucky.
Her further areas of interest include collaborations with music, dance, and theater. She has been interviewed by Hal Rammell of the MSOE radio station and the Romanian National Radio, Bucharest, Romania. Her video collage,”Yehuda Yannay: A Journey of a Lifetime,” recently was featured in the Romanian Journal Egophobia.
