The Ark's Artist Spotlight Series is presented with support from Ford Philanthropy. The show is FREE and nonperishable donations are accepted for Food Gatherers. It also streams free to our Facebook page and YouTube channel.Nashville-based and award-winning artist-activist, Heather Mae, fearlessly writes with her ribcage exposed. With every lyric, Mae’s raw vulnerability and electrifying sound create a profound connection, reminding her audience they are never alone.
Opening the evening is Be Steadwell (They, She, He, Be), a queer pop composer and storyteller from Washington DC. Be composes songs on stage using looping, vocal layering and beat boxing. Be's original music features earnest lyricism, and affirming queer content. Be's goal as a musician is to make other black girlies, introverts and weirdos feel seen and loved.
