Westfield Athenaeum | Westfield, MA
ArtWorks Westfield presents the Artists Sharing & Discussion Group, a monthly gathering offering local and regional artists and creators the opportunity to share their work with other creators, including both finished pieces and works in progress.
We are fortunate to live in a region with abundant cultural diversity, and we seek to lift up and celebrate our creativity. Rather than following a strictly “critique” format, this is intended be a safe space for artists to share their process and experience. The amount of time available for each presenter will depend upon the number of individuals in attendance.
The gatherings will be facilitated by local artist and instructor Alexandra Walters, who has extensive experience in regional public art events. Her bio is below.
The Sharing and Discussion Group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Westfield Athenaeum, 6 Elm Street in downtown Westfield. This month we will be meeting in the Rand Art Gallery, located near the Elm Street entrance.
Attendees may choose to show up to two pieces of their work, and to present insight into their unique process; they may also ask for feedback from other observers, who can offer their response in viewing the artwork: what are they drawn to? What emotions does the piece evoke?
Participants may also choose to attend for the purpose of social connection and stimulating discussion with other local artists, without presenting samples of their own work. If time allows, group discussions can also include broad subjects such as showing opportunities, and the struggles and rewards of artistic endeavors.
All discussions will be conducted with respect and decorum; these meetings will be fun, positive, engaging, uplifting, instructive and encouraging.
