Join us as Bisbee Books & Music welcomes back author Bruce Wilson to our Bisbee Artist Series.
Bruce is an Assistant Professor of History at Western New Mexico University in Silver City. He is the author of the prize-winning novel, Death in the Black Patch (NM-AZ Book Award-Finalist and the Laramie Book Award-First Place for Western Fiction) and his newly released spin-off, No Place That Far (recently announced as the winner of the New Mexico-Arizona Book Award for Historical Fiction-Arizona.)
A frequent visitor to Bisbee and a great fan of this historic mining town, Wilson has crafted “a deftly scripted and fully absorbing read from cover to cover.”—Midwest Book Review.

No Place That Far
It’s 1907, and J.D. Hooper is a fixer…he does bad things for powerful men in Kentucky, Memphis, and El Paso/Juarez. When he gets in trouble in those places, he runs. Hounded by the authorities and a persistent railroad detective, he sneaks into the U.S. at Naco and starts all over in Bisbee. By 1908, with a new name J.D. makes some friends and continues doing his fixing. When the detective shows up in the southwest mining town, a cornered J.D. feels trapped and tragedy is the result.
