Join us for a special afternoon celebrating the work of local artist Thomas W. Ford. Meet the artist, view his beautifully detailed illustrations inspired by Northern Michigan’s natural world, and enjoy light snacks and pours of Tom’s favorite wine.
About the Artist:
Thomas W. Ford grew up in Empire, Michigan—the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes—where his love for nature began at an early age. Not long after he learned to hold a crayon, he began illustrating the flora and fauna of this beautiful region.
Tom studied art and biology at Central Michigan University and has since taught and taken numerous painting workshops using a variety of mediums. He is most at home with watercolor and ink.
Most recently, Tom illustrated "A Chickadee Year," a children’s book written by Bill O. Smith and designed by local graphic designer Angela Saxon. The book is available at Horizon Books and Four Season Nursery in Traverse City, where Tom works growing and selling Michigan native plants.
