About this Event

STUDIO WEST presents Lydia Makin in conversation with UCL PhD Candidate in History of Art, Cora Chalaby.

Taking the form of a walk-around discussion led by Cora Chalaby, the conversation will focus on certain exhibited artworks in turn, using them as jumping off points to explore the thematic and ideological concerns at play in Lydia Makin's work.

The talk will offer unrivalled insight into this exciting contemporary painter's work, touching on her considered use of materials, distinct personal style, personal inspirations and intuitive processes. A central area of exploration will be the relationship between Makin's practice and the legacies of female abstract expressionists both past and present.

Please join us in the gallery on Saturday the 4th of February. The talk will take place from 3-4pm, and questions from the audience will be welcomed throughout. Light refreshments will be provided.
