Artist Performance: Mariel Belanger scəlk̓məncutx. She’s going strong.
"Gathering thoughts at the marsh edge"
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 | 10 am
at the Kelowna Art Gallery
FREE and open to the public to attend.
In this performance, Mariel Belanger shares spoken word poetry accompanied by gestures of gathering reeds—a vital activity often overlooked in contemporary times.
"In solitude at the marsh, she lets her mind go free to roam thoughts she pockets to conform. However, silenced thoughts don’t often stay quiet alone. In the marsh, her truth comes to voice."
The title represents Mariel Belanger's perseverance and is a phrase found in the Anthony Mattina Colville-Okanagan Dictionary.
This performance is held on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and is in conjunction with the current exhibition "kn k̓ʷul̓lm tl iʔ spuʔús – I made it from my heart"
