On the evening of Saturday, August 23, we are thrilled to present the third performance of our artist-in-residence 2025 season: TRIBAL TALES. Our 2025 artist-in-residence program features a year-long collaboration between digital artist CG Ryan and multi-instrumentalist Gerard Cox. Six timeless stories of humor, wisdom, and universal themes from ancient China to Greece. The tales will be told as an intermodal conversation between voice, music, and visuals projected on the walls and ceiling of the historic Old First Sanctuary.
GERARD COX is a musician and events creator, who has a long history in the Columbus improvisational music community. He is also a board member of the Fuse Factory, Electronic and Digital Arts Lab, advocating for creative education and experimentation in the live and digital music spaces.
C.G. RYAN is a media artist and scenic designer who creates playful, surreal imagery that she mixes in real time with live music to create vistas of inner and outer space, layering tangibility with the imaginary. She holds an MFA in Visual Arts: New Media from CCAD, and collaborates with musicians and directors to create transportive, immersive experiences for audiences at live events and in theatrical productions.
MURAL REMIX is a collective of digital artists that transforms spaces with beautifully designed projection experiences. Mural ReMix both creates and curates digital arts events on both intimate and monumental scales.
Venue: Old First (Sanctuary). Performances will be held in the vaulted-dome ceiling sanctuary of the historic Old First Presbyterian Church at 1101 Bryden Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43205. The Fuse Factory helps the Old First to serve as a hub for artistic exploration and performance for the last several years, providing a practice gathering space as well as an inviting and dramatic performance venue.
