Artist in Focus Tour - Pedro Friedeberg
Schedule
Wed Sep 10 2025 at 01:30 pm to 02:00 pm
UTC-04:00Location
Boca Raton Museum of Art | Boca Raton, FL
Led by David Matteson, director of learning and engagement at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, this staff-led gallery conversation looks at how Friedeberg uses mirrored glass so viewers meet their own gaze among archetypes. Matteson will frame the work within our exhibition “Glasstress Boca Raton 2025” and open space for questions and personal connections.
Italian-born and Mexico City–based, Friedeberg is a celebrated surrealist known for dense patterning, architectural imagination, occult iconography, and a lifelong sense of wit.
In “Tarot Kindergarten,” the 22 Major Arcana appear across handmade mirrored pieces, each imprinted with mineral pigments such as gold, rose gold, cobalt, and copper. The work turns the tarot into a quiet collaboration between object and onlooker.
This tour is FREE with Museum admission.
After the conversation, join us for a docent-led highlights tour of "Glasstress Boca Raton 2025" starting at 2:00 pm.
