Glass turns wings into tears. In María Magdalena Campos-Pons’s “Reservoir of Love” (2023) and a mobile from “The Rise of the Butterflies” (2021), color, light, and suspension hold grief and care together.
Led by Ena Heller, Director and CEO of the Museum, this staff-led gallery conversation considers how Campos-Pons uses blown glass, mirrored surfaces, and steel armatures to fold self-reflection, memory, and spiritual protection into the viewing experience. Heller will situate these works within “Glasstress Boca Raton 2025” and invite questions that connect personal stories to collective histories.
Born in Matanzas, Cuba, and based in Nashville, Campos-Pons works across photography, sculpture, performance, drawing, video, and immersive installation. Her practice engages memory, identity, and diaspora, drawing on Afro-Cuban, Chinese, and Nigerian heritage.
