Writing for Artists: Articulating Your Work with Clarity
Writing for Artists is a practical workshop designed for visual artists who want to write more clearly, confidently, and effectively about their work.
Led by Elizabeth Rooklidge—independent curator, writer, educator, and founder of HereIn Journal—this session focuses on developing strong written materials that support your artistic practice and professional goals. The workshop emphasizes clarity, intention, and adaptable writing strategies artists can use across multiple contexts.
Workshop Overview
This workshop explores practical approaches to writing about your work, including:
Approaching artist statements with clarity and intention
Developing a professional artist bio for different audiences and uses
Best practices for grant and opportunity applications
Generative techniques for writing about your work now and in the future
Participants will leave with a clearer framework for writing about their work, along with practical tools to make the process feel more manageable, effective, and sustainable.
This workshop is well-suited for:
Emerging artists looking to better articulate their work and ideas
