Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been making headlines, prompting educators to ask whether it should be embraced, approached with caution, or both. Many teachers remain uncertain about the value of AI in the classroom, reflecting broader discussions about its role in education. While educators must consider challenges such as ethical use, data privacy, and security, AI also presents promising opportunities. When used intentionally, AI can help educators transform and improve lessons, support thoughtful lesson planning, align instruction to standards, enhance assessment practices, and reduce teacher workload by streamlining routine tasks. AI also has the potential to support more personalized instruction while preserving professional judgment and instructional integrity. This workshop is designed for all educators—administrators, counseling staff, elementary and secondary teachers, across all content areas—who want to explore, discuss, and critically evaluate the use of AI in K–12 classrooms. Participants will examine practical ways AI can be used to plan, revise, and enhance instruction with a continued focus on student learning. The workshop is available in both in-person and virtual formats.
