About this Event
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are increasingly important technologies in the financial services sector. In response, the Bank of England (the Bank) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have committed to undertake work to better understand how these developments are driving change in financial markets, including business models, products, services and consumer engagement.
The event will provide an overview of the BoE approach to AI within financial services. The speakers will discuss the regulatory frameworks for AI in the UK and EU and provide insights into how businesses can navigate the changing regulatory landscape.
The topics will also cover how the UK and Europe set similar principles for Trustworthy AI systems such as: i) Safety, security and robustness, ii) Fairness, iii) Transparency and explainability, etc.

Mohammed Gharbawi, Head AI and Quantum Computing, Bank of England Fintech Hub
Mohammed is a senior advisor at the Bank of England's Fintech Hub, with a particular interest in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing. Prior to joining the Fintech Hub, Mohammed worked at the Bank's Prudential Regulation Authority in a number of areas across banking regulation and supervision. Before joining the Bank, Mohammed had several roles in the alternative assets industry including 12 years at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
