Arthur Vint

Drummer Arthur Vint last performed at the Tucson Jazz Festival in 2016, leading a 9-piece band from New York City performing music from his debut album, "Through The Badlands." This year, Arthur will lead a sextet made up of Arizona's finest jazz musicians including bassist Colin Mcllrath, pianist Angelo Versace, guitarist Matt Mitchell, trumpeter Jason Carder and local saxophone legend Brice Winston (Terrance Blanchard, Nicholas Payton.) The band will perform material from his forthcoming album "Copper State," a rumination on the varied landscapes and mythologies of Arizona.

Originally from Tucson, Vint has spent the past 15 years in New York City performing as a freelance drummer at venues like Dizzy's Club, Cornelia St Cafe, and Joe's Pub, among many others. For over 10 years he worked at the world-famous Village Vanguard where he rubbed elbows with some of the greatest living jazz masters and learned the intricacies of managing a jazz club, skills that he is now bringing to Tucson as music curator for Hotel Congress's new jazz club, the Century Room. He has been professor of jazz drum set at the University of Arizona since 2020.
