This incredibly unexpected artful find is a unique collection tucked away in an elegant midtown Manhattan building. It's the prized cast collection originally assembled by the Metropolitan Museum of Art that included plaster replicas of Greek and Roman objects, Renaissance sculptures, Medieval architectural elements and other ancient artwork.

The museum casts were used as inspirational teaching tools for students and artists for decades before replaced with newly purchased originals works of ancient art. After 50 years of living in warehouse storage, Cast Hall now serves as the archival host to over 200 of the Met's plaster casts.

Let Artful Buzz provide access to this amazing collection first formed in the late 19th century. These Met-deaccessioned high-quality plaster casts continue to be used today for visual art and architectural studies, while harkening back to methods from plaster ateliers across Europe.
