Celebrating Franklin's location in the path of totality for this once-in-a-lifetime solar phenomenon, the Solar Eclipse Film Festival brings you the finest in astronomical, solar-oriented cinematic entertainment. Enjoy a tour of the Historic Artcraft Theatre - built in 1922, plus a showing of the legendary 1902 silent sci-fi short film "A Trip to the Moon."
Why we're showing it: Inspired by a variety of sources including Jules Verne, this ground breaking work is still referenced today. Featuring a group of astronomers propelled the the lunar surface, they must escape a group of inhabitants to safely return to earth. Not to be missed for is historical significance alone!
